Collège Boréal calls for help to get a new site

January 29, 2016

Letter to the Editor:

While Collège Boréal has had a campus at 1 Yonge Street in Toronto for the past several years, its lease expires at the end of 2020. Collège Boréal would like to invite the Ontario Government to help in its quest to find a new space.

The French-speaking population is growing in Central Southwestern Ontario, as illustrated by increased enrollment and program expansion in the area. A larger space must be secured in order to better meet the increasing needs of the population. Location choice, construction, and setup take time; we need to act quickly.

While currently exploring various options, Collège Boréal views positively the creation of a unique and permanent space in Toronto’s downtown area to house the new French-language university, the college’s new Toronto campus, as well as other cultural and community organizations.

It would be a major Francophone cultural hub in the heart of Queen City. The Ontario Government, as part of its annual budgetary exercise, has invited Ontarians to share their ideas on how to build the province.

Let’s take advantage of this opportunity and make our voices heard.

Pierre Riopel President of Collège Boréa
