Jim Diodati, Mayor City of Niagara Falls, is the winner of the mayor’s competition during this year’s Grape Stomp. He defeated two colleagues, Marvin Junkin, Mayor of Pelham, and Bill Steele, Mayor of Port Colborne.

Jim Diodati said he was delighted to be in this year’s competition, noting that he was going through chemotherapy about the same time last year. He was able to stomp on the grapes with vigour to clinch the first place.

Jim Diodati emphasized the need for volunteering and fundraising.

Niagara’s mayors have worked together to support local cancer organizations. In 2018, they stomped for Mayor Diodati who was being treated for Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The Grape Stomp of local heroes featured representatives of the Niagara Regional police, EMS and the Firefighters.

Walter Sendzik, Mayor City of St. Catharines officiated the competition.

The proceeds of the Grape Stomp 2019 will benefit the Walker Family Cancer Centre.

The Niagara Grape and Wine Festival Grape Stomp 2019 is put together by the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival, Grape Growers of Ontario, JCI St. Catharines and Skycomp Solutions.
