    Canadians who apply for passports, immigration and travel documents, citizenship certificates and permanent resident will have a choice of selecting X if they would not identify as female or male starting June 4, 2019.

    Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship today in Toronto announced new initiative to support LGBTQ2 as part of activities to kick off this year’s Pride celebrations.

    “It is been a long time coming, and it is high time for this to happen,” said the Minister.”

    He said that for the next 12 months anyone who desires to have their passport reflect their gender could do so by changing the place reserved for gender to X without additional application fees.
