The failure of Maxime Bernier to clinch the leadership position of the Conservative Party of Canada at the 2017 Leadership Convention must have been very painful after leading in all rounds of voting.

The nail-biting loss was evident in his facial expression as the runner-up for most part; Andrew Scheer leapt forward and derailed his chances of becoming the leader of the party.

Maxime Bernier came into the Etobicoke convention venue with a lot of swagger. The press, in a media crush followed him around.

His entry was not different from that of a rock star or an A-List movie actor. The entry created a lot of noise from the loyal, boisterous supporters shouting his name in choruses. He smiled as the barrage of cameras and reporters made him the cynosure of all eyes.

The confidence of Maxime Bernier soon disappeared after leading for a greater part of the night in votes. His fortune changed when the under-estimated Andrew Scheer came from behind to snatch victory.

Mosaic Edition captured the piercing look of Maxime Bernier as it became obvious he had lost the election in the final round.

Andrew Scheer was clinical, methodical and surgical in handing defeat to the person who attracted the loudest supporters at the convention. Maxime Bernier’s swagger disappeared, looking deflated.

Maxime has resorted to venomous attack of Canada’s diversity and multiculturalism through his twitter feed in the past few days.

Mosaic Edition is apolitical as stated on our website. The news portal “was established out of passion for reporting on culture, desire to inform on the unique stories of Canada’s multiculturalism, a belief in the strength and contribution of immigrants, and a love for understanding Canada’s mosaic community through adequate information and education.”

Maxime Bernier’s tirade on Canada’s diversity, multiculturalism, and the insult hurled on his party did not show any class. Maxime Bernier had the smartest look with his powered dressing on the day he lost the leadership election. His haute couture is enviable. There is smart suit and there is smart brain. The smart brain, Andrew Scheer pulled off the victory while the debonair, panache, celebrity wannabe sat staring at the screen.

Maxime Bernier’s rabid comment is divisive. Immigrants, newcomers, ethnic Canadian’s of diverse backgrounds have worked  hard to contribute their quota to Canada’s political and economic well being.

To attack this group of people with a bold face because of a heart breaking loss of a leadership race is K-12. It belies the wisdom required to lead. The rude and crass exit from the party shows immaturity.

Maxime Bernier has chosen to quit the Conservative Party. He is better on the fashion runway than forming another party.

P.S.

“Anyone who swallows a live cockroach should not complain of sleepless nights resulting from scratchy throat.” -Edward Akinwunmi

Maxime Bernier swallowed a “live coakroach” in Etobicoke.

Correction – “Andrew Sheer came from behind to snatch victory.”

Corrected – “Andrew Scheer came from behind to snatch victory.”
